Congratulations to our U10 boys team for winning the Sue Parry Tournament yesterday, held at Halo Leisure, Hereford.
After wins against Ledbury and Orelton, and a draw against Rebel Reds, the team secured a place in the top 2 to reach the final, where they played Pegasus Juniors.
Pegasus had won the previous encounter between the two sides 2-0 in the final group stage game to decide who topped the group, but Belmont bounced back in the final with an impressive 3-1 win to secure their first ever tournament after reaching five semi finals in the last 12 months.
The team were presented their winners medals by former Hereford FC captain, Joel Edwards before being presented a cheque for £25 which will go to St Michael’s Hospice, the event organisers, who put on another brilliant event for such a great cause.
Manager, Kye Sheffield said: “I’m so proud of the team for what they have achieved today and for the progress they have made the last two years. A couple of years ago, we would have been happy to have won one game, but now we come to these tournaments knowing we can be competitive and to beat a side like Pegasus in the final is fantastic. Seeing the lads faces at the end is the reason why I got into coaching. I will never forget today, it’s been amazing”.
A huge congratulations to the players and coaches from everyone at Belmont Wanderers.
