Belmont Shine at Futsal Finals
- Updated: March 14, 2016
On Sunday 13th March we saw the local futsal finals take place, Belmont had two teams representing the club. The first up were the under 8s consisting of 8 little superstars, with coach Jo Smith on the side-lines. They would play Ross Juniors, a strong under 8s team, both teams had fought their way to the finals. The game was fast paced and great to see these young superstars battling on the pitch, the keepers at both ends were phenomenal. However Ross broke through and scored 2 goals to win the close final. Credit has to go to these young players and the coach for keeping their heads held high, they should and we should be very proud of what they have achieved in their first season at Belmont Wanderers – WELL DONE from all at the Club.
The second of our teams representing the Club was the under 12s, headed by coach Andy Davies, they would play Lads Club. The game started well taking the lead 1-0 and holding them until half time, after break Lads Club came out and gave it all they had pulling 2 goals back to take the lead. However our young ladies responded well, scoring several goals in quick succession, the turning point a goal that would make a premiership player proud, the word rocket would be an understatement. Belmont went on to take the victory 5-3. The team will now represent the county of Herefordshire in the futsal regional tournament. Again between these girls and their coach they have gone from strength to strength with their own abilities to come together as a great team. From the Club we send a massive well done and CONGRATULATIONS.
We’d also like to add our under 10s juniors who were fighting their own battle in the semi-final of the shield, the team played their hearts out making their coaches very proud. Unfortunately being knocked out by Lads Club, however the team has come a long way since being newly formed at the beginning of the season.
Next week we have both under 12s and under 14s taking part in their semi-finals for the shield, the winners of which will play at the finals in May.
A great day of football for the Club well done to all teams taking part and long may it continue, to the young ladies:
“never under estimate your abilities, from a loss we learn, from defeat we grow stronger and from winning we remember how we arrived there“
Come on BWFC!!
